Game Booster

Here is neat little app called Game Booster I found on the internet that will help gamers out there get the smoothest and most responsive game play possible.

Most game tech support personnel usually tell people who play their games to install the most recent driver’s for all their hardware. The more important ones are new drivers upgrades for their sound card and graphics card to insure the fastest smoothest gaming possible and the least of amount of crashing to their desktop.

Game tech support people will also recommend that people who play their games should shut down if at all possible all their applications that are running in the background to get the smoothest game play possible with their games.

When you start the gamming mode by clicking on the interface button "Switch to gaming mode" Game Booster pops up another window to show you programs running in the background on your computer. The window popup is for your review and simply indicating to you the programs running in the background may not be necessary in order to play your your games. The main purpose in shutting them down so more of your CPUS time is dedicated to running your game instead of the other apps that don’t need your precious CPUs allocation of cycles. It also does a memory sweep of your ram and increase more ram to your games that need it to run more smoothly.

Your next step is to either shut down all the apps down by clicking close them or select the ones you want to keep running. Once you click the button to shut them down Game Booster begins to shut down those unnecessary programs running in the background and does a ram sweep to grab all the freed up memory to be used in your games. The more memory intensive games will probably benefit the most from having more memory. People that have either a single core or dual core CPUS will benefit the most. The people that have the single core CPUS will benefit the most. The quad CPU users will probably benefit to some degree but to a much lesser extent.

When you are ready to restart your apps just click the "Back to Normal mode" button and Game Booster will start all your services back up once again. The only thing Game Booster does not shut down is your other windows stuff like your browser, hard drive directories, and other apps like note pad. You will have to shut those down manually yourself if you think you will benefit.

Game Booster is freeware from IObit.com who is a highly respected and trusted company.  If you have any kind of issues with Game Booster you can go to their Game Booster Forum by selecting the link in Game Booster. They also have some free stuff you can download from their site as well that will probably be useful for your PC.
