This is a general guidline in helping you when choosing CPU manufacture, the CPU series and as a result give you the coresponding CPU socket requirements for the Motherboard you will need to build or upgrade you computer rig.

Intel Cpu Series:

Both Core 2 Duo (Dual core processores) and Core 2 Quad (Quad core processores) use the LGA 775 socket.

All core i7 quad core series use the LGA 1366 socket.
